How to Cure Psoriasis – The Importance of the Diet

My father suffered from quite severe psoriasis for the best part of 20 years and it was clear that the conventional treatments, drugs, acid peels and antibiotics were simply not doing the job. As it was destroying his self confidence and pretty much taking over his life, we decided that alternative forms of therapy were the best way to proceed, and as we got more and more involved in researching the condition, we learnt about holistic methods and the successes that some people were having with them.

Having always been a believer that we shouldn’t be so readily throwing drugs at conditions, we were keen to experiment with these so called natural methods in an attempt to find a cure. 6 months later that consisted of 3 months research and 3 months later I am delighted to say that we cracked it. He doesn’t have any plaques on his body anywhere and his skin is looking better than ever before.

In this article, I’m going to talk about some of the changes we made to the diet for this to occur.

The natural psoriasis cure and the importance of the diet

There seems to be a strong link between psoriasis and the build up of toxins in the body even though dermatologists aren’t universally agreed on this, it seems to be the opinion of the majority. With that in mind we looked at all possible causes of toxin build up and we found out that a poor diet was the number one reason why most people have toxic build up in their body.

We therefore changed his diet on the recommendation of a dermatologist to the following:-

- No red meats only white meats and in a limited capacity

- All organic whole foods, no processed foods especially sugar

- Plenty of fibrous vegetables, beans, pulses, nuts and fruit. Sometimes he’d have smoothies instead of a meal to get the good foods down easier.

- Increase intake of Essential Fatty Acids – we noticed that the supplementation of these oils were quite fundamental to the recovery process. If you’re looking for a brand in the right ratio and that’s stored correctly so that the oils aren’t rancid then consider Udo’s Oil Blend.

- A diet that’s fairly high in sodium but with sea salt instead of refined salt.

- Lots of water spread throughout the day to flush the toxins out.

- Supplementation with a broad range of anti-oxidants.

- Fried oils were banned as was more than one quart of dairy per day.

These diet changes made a whole world of difference to my father’s condition and I’d urge anyone of you who is suffering from psoriasis to do your reading and give it a shot. My father is a completely changed man now – his quality of life is just so much better.

Please bare in mind that we made more than just diet related changes to cure his psoriasis, however diet alone will still more than likely drastically improve your condition just like it did for my father.
